The Procedure
Here’s what you can expect during your breast implant removal procedure.
-
This is an outpatient procedure, and you will be placed under general anesthesia to ensure your comfort and safety.
Before surgery, Dr. Gupta will mark the incision site, typically along your existing scar to minimize new scarring.
-
Dr. Gupta will carefully make incisions—most commonly in the breast crease or around the areola—based on your original surgery. This allows access to the implant pocket with minimal disruption to surrounding tissue.
-
The breast implants are gently removed, whether they are saline or silicone.
If the implants are ruptured, additional steps are taken to ensure complete removal of any leaked material.
-
The capsule (scar tissue) surrounding the implant may be removed entirely (en bloc or total capsulectomy) or partially, depending on your individual needs, symptoms, and goals.
Dr. Gupta will determine the best approach during your consultation and surgery.
-
After implant removal, the breasts may appear deflated or loose. Depending on your goals, Dr. Gupta may recommend a breast lift (mastopexy), fat grafting, or placing new implants during the same procedure to restore shape, volume, and contour. These options will be discussed in detail during your consultation and customized to your anatomy and preferences.
-
The incisions are closed in multiple layers to support healing and minimize scarring.
Waterproof dressings are applied, and you will wake up wearing a supportive surgical bra.
You’ll return home the same day with complete post-op care instructions and a follow-up plan.
Add on an Internal Bra!
Support That Lasts. Confidence That Shows.
-
Think of it as an internal sports bra—a hidden support system placed inside your body to help lift, shape, and hold your breasts in place long after surgery. At Verve Plastic Surgery, Dr. Gupta uses advanced mesh materials like Galatea and TIGR to create a secure internal framework that becomes part of your natural anatomy over time. It’s a game-changer for long-lasting, sculpted results.
-
During your procedure, Dr. Gupta places a soft, flexible mesh inside the breast to act as internal scaffolding. This mesh reinforces the tissue and helps prevent issues like sagging or implant shifting.
-
An internal bra can elevate the results of many breast surgeries, including:
Breast Augmentation – for stable implant placement and longer-lasting fullness
Breast Lift – to maintain shape and fight gravity over time
Breast Reduction – for added internal support after tissue removal
Revision Surgery – to correct issues like implant bottoming out or tissue laxity
-
Acts like an internal sports bra
Prevents sagging and implant displacement
Enhances cleavage, shape, and lift
Long-term support and stability
Seamlessly integrates with your own tissue
-
No! Internal bras are not one size fits all. The type, size, and placement of the mesh are carefully customized by Dr. Gupta based on your anatomy, surgical goals, and level of support needed.
