Hair Restoration
If you’re experiencing thinning hair or early-stage hair loss, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Hair Restoration offers a natural, non-surgical solution. This treatment uses the healing power of your own blood to stimulate inactive hair follicles, boost growth, and improve hair thickness and density over time.
The Procedure
Here’s what you can expect during your hair restoration procedure.
-
A topical numbing cream is applied to the scalp to ensure a comfortable experience throughout the treatment.
-
A small amount of your blood is drawn, similar to a routine lab test.
-
The blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate and extract the Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), which is rich in healing growth factors.
-
The PRP is then strategically applied to areas of thinning or hair loss through injections, microneedling, or a combination of both, depending on your needs and goals.
-
There’s no significant downtime—you're free to return to your normal activities the same day. For best results, a series of treatments is recommended.
About Platelet Rich Plasma
-
PRP is a concentration of platelets and growth factors derived from your own blood. It's used to stimulate healing, regenerate tissue, and boost collagen production, making it a powerful, natural treatment in both aesthetic and medical procedures.
-
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) helps with hair restoration by using your body’s own growth factors to stimulate dormant hair follicles, increase blood supply to the scalp, and promote stronger, thicker hair growth.
When injected or microneedled into areas of thinning, the concentrated platelets in PRP trigger natural healing processes and collagen production around the follicles. This encourages longer hair growth cycles, reduces shedding, and helps revitalize weak or inactive follicles—making it especially effective for early-stage hair loss in both men and women.
-
A small amount of your blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the red and white blood cells. The resulting PRP is then extracted and used during treatment.
-
Yes—because PRP is made from your own blood, there’s very little risk of allergic reaction or rejection. It’s a natural, minimally invasive treatment with a strong safety profile.
-
Results develop gradually as collagen production increases, with visible improvement typically seen over several weeks. A series of treatments may be recommended for optimal results, depending on your goals.

So a couple of years ago I started to notice that my hairline started to thin out. It was a little bit disturbing when you see it in photos especially from the side view that you know the hairline is starting to get thin and it’s not nearly as curly and thick as it used to be as I was in younger years and I also got really self-conscious about it. So I found myself wearing my hair, pulled back more and hats on and things like that,

until I heard about this PRP therapy that Dr. Gupta was doing in his office that was really helpful in regenerating the hair that’s been missing from places that are really important and visible. So I set up an appointment to come and see Dr. Gupta and have a consult and he said I was a perfect candidate because the hairline was missing hair and that in the areas that it worked the best on is where the hair is missing.

So I said Sign me up. This is a perfect procedure for me. This is what I’d like to do.

I came into the office that day for the procedure and it just took a couple hours. The procedure was pretty painfree and they were very good at making sure that we had local anesthetic in the areas that it might hurt.

The procedure works really well because it does a couple things. One is it brings special growth factors that actually help activate the hair cells to grow hair back again.

The other reason why it works is also it helps increase blood flow to that area, which is a much needed thing for in order for something to grow.

I had three treatments done and they were all four weeks apart. And after the last treatment I noticed a significant change in the hairline. Dr. Group did a great job explaining the whole procedure and making sure the procedure was done safely and comfortably. I would highly recommend it to anybody that’s concerned about their hairline to have this done.

FAQs
-
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy uses your own blood's growth factors to stimulate hair follicles, improve blood supply, and encourage new hair growth. The PRP is injected or microneedled into thinning areas to rejuvenate dormant follicles.
-
PRP works best for patients experiencing early stages of hair thinning or mild to moderate hair loss. It’s ideal for men and women with androgenic alopecia or hair shedding but not complete baldness.
-
Typically, a series of 3-4 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is recommended, followed by maintenance sessions every 6-12 months. Visible improvements can start around the 3rd month, with continued progress over time.
-
Downtime is minimal. You might experience mild redness, swelling, or soreness at the injection sites for 1-2 days. Since PRP uses your own blood, the risk of allergic reactions or complications is very low.
-
Results can last 12-18 months with proper maintenance. Because hair loss is progressive, periodic touch-up treatments are recommended to maintain hair density and growth over time.
