Brazilian Butt Lift in Solana Beach

A More Curvaceous Backside and a More Beautiful Body

If squats and padded jeans haven’t produced the voluptuous, shapely buttocks you desire, Dr. Anshu Gupta offers several options. Depending on your body type and goals, Dr. Gupta can enhance your naturally small buttocks either with an artificial implant or your own fat. The latter option, which is known as the Brazilian butt lift procedure, is quickly becoming one of the most popularly performed procedures in the country.

Candidates for Buttock Augmentation

Buttock augmentation may be a good option if you are unhappy with a small or poorly defined buttocks, and desire a more balanced look. Maybe your buttocks has always been small, or perhaps weight loss or the natural aging process has given your buttocks a flat or saggy appearance.

To qualify for surgery, you should be physically and psychologically stable, and not have any uncontrolled medical issues that could complicate the surgery or recovery process. You should not smoke, or quit prior to surgery. Ideally, you should have reasonable expectations of the procedure and understand the (rare) risks and complications.

If you are considering buttock augmentation, Dr. Gupta will meet with you during a consultation to evaluate your personal needs and goals and examine your buttocks. He will use this information to recommend using either an implant or autologous (your own) fat, and provide more information about what to expect during and after surgery, and how to prepare.

More about Traditional Buttock Augmentation (with an Implant)

Traditionally, plastic surgeons have augmented a flat or shapeless buttocks with the placement of an artificial implant. Dr. Gupta will make an incision within the natural crease of the buttocks and create a pocket inside the large gluteal muscle, above the pelvic bone.

This pocket can be created above the muscle or under the muscle. Although creating the pocket inside the muscle is more challenging, it is the safer approach and provides more natural-looking and longer-lasting results.

Through the incision, he will insert a soft, shaped silicone implant and position it carefully. Finally, Dr. Gupta will close the incisions with sutures and place a compression garment to help the area heal.

More about Brazilian Butt Lift

Brazilian Butt Lift utilizes the fat transfer approach, which involves using your own fat to augment a particular area that needs volume.

During Brazilian butt lift, Dr. Gupta will use liposuction techniques to remove surplus fat from a donor area of the body. (For most people, this is commonly the abdomen, hips or thighs.) The fat will be purified and prepared for injections, using either the Puregraft or Revolve system, to maximize the fat’s survival for longer-lasting results. Then, Dr. Gupta will inject small amounts of the fat into the buttocks, concentrating on the upper quadrant to give the buttocks a “lifted” effect.

The Brazilian butt lift is advantageous for several reasons. First, it is natural and does not involve placing an artificial implant into the body. This natural approach eliminates the risk of the body rejecting the implant and other complications. Secondly, the donor fat area is liposuctioned and looks slimmer after the procedure. For people that struggle with a little extra “cushioning” on the abdomen or thighs, this is a great option!

Recovering from Buttock Augmentation

The buttocks (and, in Brazilian butt lift, the donor area) will be sore, swollen and bruised after surgery. These side effects last temporarily and will subside with time.

Wear your compression garment to control the swelling and help the tissues conform to their new contours. If you feel any pain, take oral medication as prescribed. Rest as much as possible without putting any direct pressure on your buttocks. Avoid strenuous activities, including heavy lifting and vigorous exercise, during your initial recovery.

Dr. Gupta will follow up with you several times during your recovery to check your progress. He will also let you know when it is safe to go back to work, exercise and your normal routine.
